Discovering Your Spirit Animal

Animals Reflect our spirit. They are our messengers, our teachers, our guardians, our companions and our totems. They remind us of the majesty of life. They restore our wonder and they reawaken our lost belief in magic,dreams and possibilities. Animals have much to teach us, for every animal is a gateway to the phenomenal world of spirit.

This powerful exercise, created by Ted Andrews, has guided thousands around the world to a better understanding of the spiritual and magical purposes of animals spirits within their lives. It combines specially composed music with archetypal imagery to stimulate an awakening of the heart to the wonders of Nature. It will open doors to more dynamic and tangible animal encounters.

As with all the meditations found on this site, you should read all the way through this page at least once before you try to do the meditation.

This page contains two, separate tracks for this meditation exercise. The first track is the full, guided meditation, and the second track is the music only, which is helpful if you wish to revisit the exercise without the voice guidance, and is also good for other meditation and relaxation exercises. Each track is about 23 minutes long.

Before you start:

• This meditation takes about 25 minutes, so make sure that you will be able to remain uninterrupted for that length of time, at the very least. Better still, allow for extra time to reflect on your journey after you've finished, before you have to deal with other things.

• Turn off any unnecessary, extra noise generating items, such as the radio or television, if you can, or consider using headphones with the guided meditation track for this meditation.
If there is music or television or other such things that other people are using, don't worry about it.

• Switch your phone's ringer and other notifications to silent or DND mode.

• If using incense, candles, smudge, etc, now is the time to light them.

• Find a place to get comfortable. Is best to lie down, on you back, on the floor or ground (use a mat or cushion if needed). Your legs can be straight, or you can bend your knees slightly, to take pressure off your back - whichever is more comfortable for you.
If you are mobility impaired, have circulatory problems which preclude lying on the floor/ground, or are somewhere where that simply isn't an option, a bed, couch, or bench is fine. Just try to make sure you are not going to fall asleep.

• Lie with your back straight, tilting your head up/back slightly and tucking in your chin so that your neck and spine are aligned.

• Place your hands in a comfortable, relaxed position at your sides.

Now, you are ready to begin...

• Start the guided meditation track.

• Close your eyes and take deep breaths as you listen to the track.

• Follow the directions given you on the recording.
